TYPES OF FLOORING

WOOD FLOORS

A large number of people have an inclination to completely overlook hardwood flooring because it is more expensive than carpet,  however, wood floors have many great benefits which outweigh their initial additional cost. Prior to start shopping for wood flooring, there is some public knowledge we like to share with you that may help you to choose the right wood flooring.

As you might know, there are so many types of wood flooring in the marketplace today – rustic, hand-scraped, traditional, and exotic. The common thing among all types of wood flooring is the fact that they are a lifelong product that is durable, environmentally safe and beautiful. Wood flooring not only make your home more beautiful, it will also increase the value of your property when you decide to sell it. Hardwood floor products are some of the most sought after hard surface flooring in remodeling and new home purchasing.

Maintenance involves simple mopping, vacuuming, and protecting your floors from moisture and heavy wear. Preventive maintenance like area rugs, floor protectors (on all furniture) and routine use of recommended hardwood floor cleaning solution can prolong the beauty of your floors. Another interesting fact is that hardwood floors help contribute to a wholesome indoor living environment. Hardwood floors do not harbor dust mites or molds, which is especially beneficial for the approximated 35 million Americans who suffer from allergies.

Many of our customers have questions about solid hardwood floors vs. engineered wood floors. Engineered wood flooring is made of a core of plywood with a layer of hardwood on the top. It is functional and durable and can be installed in multiple areas of your property, even those that may experience moisture. Both solid and engineered wood flooring can be refinished. Our experienced team members are happy to answer all your questions. With today’s evolving new technologies hardwood floors come in many sizes, styles, colors, and species.  We will be happy to help you find the perfect wood floor to meet your taste and budget.

SOLID WOOD

The most distinctive type of hardwood flooring; various styles of wood, colors, and grades are available. Solid wood flooring is available either prefinished or unfinished (has to be sanded and finished). This is the most durable choice. Solid wood is nailed down to the subfloors.

ENGINEERED WOOD

It is essentially composite multilayered wood flooring (real wood being on the upper layer) that is oftentimes thinner than solid wood. Engineered wood is glued down to the subfloors.

LAMINATE FLOORING

While not usually the fanciest option, laminate flooring is usually one of the more cost-effective solutions. While it is not real wood, laminate flooring is crafted from Formica, and designed to imitate wood. This means that, compared to traditional hardwood floors, laminate flooring is not only far easier to install but also very easy to maintain as well.

LVP

Very resistant to scratches, this type of flooring is commonly used in entryways and other high-traffic areas in your home. Besides that, it is waterproof and can be used anywhere, especially for kitchen, bathrooms and basements. It has realistic visual and is very easy to clean & maintain.
